Týn nad Bečvou

Tyn nad Bečvou ( German Thein ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located four kilometers southeast of Lipník and belongs to Okres Přerov.

Geography

Tyn is located southwest of the mouth of the Jezernice on the left bank of the river below the Bečva Helfštýn ( German Helfenstein, also Helfstein ) on the northern edge of the Maleníkwaldes. To the east rises Mount Krásnice.

History

The area is reference of graves from the early Stone Age. The first written record comes from the year 1447, were as Tyn for dominion of the Lords of Helfstein. Under the rule of Pernštejnové the village had 22 settlements, the Lords of Ludanice built a farm and brewery.

Personalities

The composer Bedřich Smetana lingered in 1852 and 1854 with his sister and his brother in law.
