The Type 96 (Japanese 96式 装 轮 装甲车, 96 - shiki Sorin sōkōsha, dt "Type -96 armored car " ) is an eight-wheeled (8 × 8), four-wheel drive Armoured Personnel Carrier made ​​in Japan. However, the vehicle is not amphibious.

Description

The Type 96 is the most advanced armored personnel carriers serving the Japanese ground self-defense forces. Production started in 1995. On the part of the Japanese army were ordered 500 vehicles. The Type 96 was not exported until now.

The Type 96 is armored at best moderate for a Radpanzer this class. Advantageously, however, is the low vehicle silhouette.
