Tytsjerksteradiel

Tytsjerksteradiel (Dutch: Tietjerksteradeel ( listen / i)) is a municipality of the province of Friesland (Netherlands). It has 31 976 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Location and economic

The community is located east of the provincial capital of Leeuwarden. Burgum is the main town; the village lies at Van Harinxmakanaal, which is well-maintained for inland waterway vessels, as close to the railway Leeuwarden - Groningen; The village has a railway station. The highway Leeuwarden - Groningen leads past Burgum and Hurdegaryp.

Burgum has as an administrative and trade center of some industrial and commercial; in the village are several schools, retirement homes, shops, etc. The agriculture ( livestock ) and water sports tourism ( Bergumermeer in Burgum ) are of economic importance to the community.

Events

  • In summer, inter alia, on the Bergumermeer the Skûtsjesilen held; it is a multi-day sailing competition with 100-year -old, originally as Frachtschiffchen ( Dutch: Schuitje, Frisian: Skûtsje ) used sailboats
  • By Bartlehiem, the route of elfstedentocht, the famous skating marathon race along the eleven Frisian cities.
