Geography
Geographical Location
Lamp is between the nature park Dumber and the Natural Park Steinhude on Großenmoor approximately in the middle between Sulingen and Minden, on the border with North Rhine -Westphalia. The municipality is the administrative seat of the velvet municipality lamp with the stains Diepenau and lamp and the communities Raddestorf and Warmsen.

History
The first mention of light was in the 1196 deed book by Hoya. 1295 laid the Counts of Hoya in place in a castle as a frontier fortress against the bishopric of Minden. 1382 conquered the Minden bishop together with Count von Schaumburg Otten lamp and destroyed the castle. For centuries the place of peat were cut by hand in Großenmoor west, which served the population as a fuel. As of the 1920 years began the industrial peat extraction, which led to the creation of three Torfabbauunternehmen. Today ( 2011) is in the bog, which is a nature reserve since 2007, only one company operates.
From the year 2005, the place by the girl from the Uchter Moor was known throughout the region, which was named in retrospect Moora. It is a well-preserved, about 2650 years old bog body, whose remains were found in 2000 and 2005 during peat cutting in the Great Moor.
Incorporations
On March 1, 1974, the municipalities Darlaten, courtyards, Hoysinghausen, other jurisdictions and Woltringhausen were incorporated.

Traffic
The municipality is situated on the main road 61 ( runs from the Bremen area in the Ruhr area ) and the B 441, which begins in light and ends in Hanover.
A museum railway runs in the summer months as scheduled on the section of the former railway line to Rahden Rahden - Nienburg.
