Umala Municipality

The municipality Umala is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Umala is one of seven Municipalities of the province of flavor and is located in the southwestern part of the province. It is bordered to the west by the province Pacajes, to the south by the province Gualberto Villarroel, on the east by the municipality of Sica Sica, and to the north by the municipality of Patacamaya.

The municipality has 99 localities ( Localidades ), the central location of the municipality is Umala with 152 inhabitants in the central part of the municipality ( census 2001). The only other large town in the municipality is Cañaviri with 992 inhabitants ( update 2010).

Geography

The municipality Umala Umala located on the Bolivian plateau between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental and the Cordillera Central in the west to the east. The mean average temperature of the region is about 7 ° C, the annual precipitation is 460 mm (see climate chart Patacamaya ). The region has a pronounced diurnal climate, the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 4 ° C in June / July and 9 ° C in November / December, the monthly rainfall range from less than 10 mm from May to August and at 110 mm in January.
