University of Ulm

The University of Ulm was founded in 1967 as the " Medical and Natural Sciences University of Ulm " and is the youngest university in Baden- Württemberg. The University of Ulm has currently (winter semester 2013/2014 ) around 10 000 students. In the course of internationalism, it provides for all their students a professional language training ( UNIcert ) with many different languages ​​and disciplines. History

After the Science Council had in 1959 called for the establishment of new universities in the Federal Republic of Germany, the " Working Group University of Ulm " was founded on 8 June 1960. After the Ministry of Culture in 1962 provided for a Medical Academy of Ulm, the working group sought the extension to a Medical Science College. The founding committee for the college chaired by Ludwig Heilmeyer was used on 21 March 1964. On February 25, 1967, the official inauguration ceremony of the Medical and Natural Sciences, University of Ulm took place. In the same year the college was the name of Ulm University ( Medical Science College ) awarded by the state government of Baden -Wuerttemberg: It received by name and rank of a university.

On 14 July 1969, the foundation stone of the new buildings was laid on the Upper Eselsberg. Gradually the teaching was taken: In the winter semester 1969/70 in the subjects of preclinical medicine and physics, in WS 1970/71 Mathematics, in WS 1971/72 chemistry, SS 1972 clinical medicine, in WS 1973/74 Biology, in WS 1977 / 78 business Mathematics, in WS 1982/83 dentistry, in WS 1998/99 economic physics, WS 1999/2000 economics and WS 2000/2001 business Chemistry. After approval of the expansion plans of the state government by the Scientific started in the winter semester 1989/90 the teaching in the subjects of electrical engineering and computer science. 1990 began the construction of new buildings for engineering, called the University of the West. Foreign Relations

The University of Ulm maintains numerous relationships and exchange programs with partner universities in European and non- European countries. An intense exchange takes place with European partner universities. There are most partnerships with universities in France, Great Britain, Italy and Spain, but also to universities in Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Norway, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Turkey.

German University in Cairo ( GUC )

Together with the University of Stuttgart University of Ulm is the godfather of high school German University in Cairo. Botanical garden

Reisensburg Castle

Student self-administration

The General Student Committee ( student union ) is the official representative of the students in the areas of university, sports and culture. It has 14 members. Board members are both elected student members of the Senate of the University of Ulm, the chosen by 12 members who have a candidate on the lists for student council, to be supplemented. The student council executive committee consists of five members, student council president is currently Frederik Bonz. StuVe

The student representative ( StuVe ) is the student parliament at the University of Ulm. It is composed of 14 members of the student council and the direct mandate from each of the eleven student bodies, so therefore comprises 25 voting people.
