Upplands Väsby Municipality
Upplands Väsby is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish Stockholm County and the historic province of Uppland. The main town of the municipality is Upplands Väsby.
Geography
Upplands Väsby has an area of 75 square kilometers and borders the municipalities of Sollentuna, Järfälla, Upplands -Bro, Sigtuna, Vallentuna and Taby. Nature is characterized by a glacial moraine, lying on the arable and forest land.
History
The area was already settled early. Testified by the numerous archaeological sites and the large number of rune stones. The name of the village comes from a castle of the French noble family De Geer, Stora Wäsby. Development thrusts it was after the construction of the railway line between Stockholm and Uppsala, and after the establishment of the airport Arlanda.
