Valle Po

As the upper reaches of the Valle Po Po of the Cozie Alps is referred to the entry into the Po Valley.

The valley is located in the Italian province of Cuneo ( Piedmont ) and belongs to the Comunità montana political ( community association ) Valli Po, Bronda, Infernotto e Varaita. The valley communities are Crissolo Oncino, Ostana Paesana and Sanfront, as well as the valley exit Rifreddo and Martiniana Po.

The Po Valley is only about 35 km long and runs almost straight west- east from the main Alpine ridge (which here coincides with the French border ) to the beginning of the Po Valley. The end of the valley lies between the hills at Revello and Martiniana Po, about 8 km west of Saluzzo. Here the river turns north towards Turin.

Parallel valleys are the Pellice in the north and the Valle Varaita in the south. They are longer by half, as they only open into the Po between Saluzzo and Turin.

Between the sources of the Po Valley and the Valle Varaita is one of the most prominent peaks of the Western Alps, Monviso ( Monte Viso ) with 3841 m. To the Monviso runs a popular multi-day hiking trail.
