History

Van Halen II is partly made from pieces that already existed before the recording of the debut. They are included as demos in 1976 with Gene Simmons ( Kiss) and were made in 1977 with Ted Templeman, in different versions. The album was recorded less than a year later after the debut and published. Just 48 hours after the end of the first tour, the band went into the studio in January 1979. In ten days the album was recorded. Overdubs, there were only three pieces. Edward Van Halen recorded an acoustic piece for the plate with Spanish Fly.

Success and criticism

The album reached # 6 on the Billboard 200 The two Singles Dance the Night Away and Beautiful Girls were with number 15 and number 84 quite successful. Stephen Thomas Erlewine called the album almost a carbon copy of the first album. However, were the singles "easier" and "funny " than anything on the debut. The Album rating was 4 out of 5 stars.
