Vasil Kiryienka

Vasili Vasilyevich Kiryjenka (White Russian Васіль Васільевіч Кірыенка; born June 28, 1981 in Gomel ) is a Belarusian rail and road racing cyclist.

A first international success came in 2005 when Kiryjenka Italian one-day race Coppa della Pace. In the same year he became Belarusian national time trial champion and was able to repeat this success in 2006. The Road World Championships in Salzburg, he was surprisingly sixth in the time trial. By 2008 Kiryjenka appeared often as stage winner in smaller tours in appearance.

After 2008, he won a stage of the Giro d' Italia and at the Track World Championships 2008 in Manchester World Champion in the points race was 2009 he received the Caisse d' Epargne his first contract with a UCI ProTeam. For this team - which was called from 2010 Movistar team - he could win in 2011 a further stage in the Giro d' Italia and the Route du Sud his first international stage race.

The UCI Road World Championships 2012 in Limburg (Netherlands ), he was able to continue as a bronze medalist at the services shown in 2006. After the season, he joined the Sky Procycling team and was set up for the Tour de France in 2013, but he had to leave after the 9th stage due to exceedance of the waiting period. After it almost looked like this in the 2013 season that he would retract any significant victory, he was in September, then still a stage of the Tour of Spain win.
