Vasily Perov

Vasily Grigoryevich Perov (Russian Василий Григорьевич Перов, scientific transliteration Vasily Perov Grigor'evič; born December 21 1833jul / January 2 1834greg in Tobolsk, .. .. † 29 Maijul / June 10 1882greg in Moscow) was a Russian painter and one of the founding members of Peredvizhniki.

Life

Perov was born in Tobolsk, the son of the local magistrate, Baron GK Kridener. After he had finished his education in Arzamas, he was also sent to the Art School of Alexander Stupin in Arzamas. In 1853 he was admitted to study at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he was taught by well-known artists of the time.

In 1856 he was honored with an award from the Academy of Arts of the Russian government for the sketch of a boy head ( головы мальчика ). Additional awards of the Academy followed: In the following years he won awards for the image " Приезд станового на следствие " in 1858 and two years later for the painting " Сцена на могиле " ( scene at the grave ) and " Сын дьячка, произведенный в первый чин ". He received another award for the painting " Проповедь в селе " ( Sermon on the village ) in 1861.

Provided with a scholarship Vasily Perov went in 1862 to Germany and later to Paris. During this time, several paintings were created, the scenes of everyday life in Europe posed such as " Продавец статуэток " ( The statuette seller), " Савояр " ( The Savoyard ) and " Музыканты и зеваки " ( musicians and audience ).

In 1865 Perov returned to Moscow. Here in the following period he created his major works. These were the painting " Очередная у фонтана " ( The snake at the well ), " Монастырская трапеза " ( The meal in the monastery ), " Проводы покойника " ( The Last Journey ), " Тройка " ( The Troika ) and many others.

1866, the rank of a scientist, he was awarded and since 1871 he became a professor at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. One of his most famous student should Andrei Petrovich Rjabuschkin be. During this time he was, in light of the situation at the university, one of the founders of the Peredvizhniki.

He died of tuberculosis in 1882 and was initially buried in the Danilov Monastery, then reburied in the 1950s, to the cemetery of the Donskoi Monastery.
