Veľké Lovce

Veľké Lovce (Slovak to 1948 " Lot " - to 1927 " Nový Lot "; Hungarian Újlót - to 1900 Nagylót ) a town in Slovakia is in the district of Nové Zámky. It is located 8 km from the thermal Podhájska and about 20 km from Nové Zámky. For cadastre of the village heard a ruin of the Pauline monastery Máriačalád ( Mary's family). Through the village flows the Lovčiansky -Bach.

History

The documentary first mention of the church was in the year 1236. Historical region was Tekov in the Kingdom of Hungary,

Until 1919 it belonged to the county bars the Kingdom of Hungary, after which they came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. Because of the First Vienna Award in 1938-45 it belonged again to Hungary and since 1993 has been part of the present-day Slovakia.

Its population is 2081 (31 December 2006 ). Of these, Slovaks - 85.57 %, Hungary - 9.85% and Gypsies - 4.01%. 84.82 % declared themselves to Roman Catholic Church, other religions are reformers ( Calvinists ) - 10.37%, without denomination - 2.73% and Evangelical - 0.33 % of residents.
