Vesna Pusić

Vesna Pusić ( born March 25, 1953 in Zagreb, Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian sociologist and politician (Hrvatska narodna stranka - Liberalni democratic ) ( German Croatian People's Party - Liberal Democrats ). Since December 2011 she has been Foreign Minister of Croatia.

Life

Vesna Pusić studied at the University of Zagreb Sociology and received his doctorate there in 1984 with a thesis on decision-making processes in the workers' self-management. Since 1988 she is a professor of sociology at the University of Zagreb.

In the late 1970s she was involved in the founding of the first feminist group in Yugoslavia Žena i društvo ( Women and Society ). It belonged in 1990 to the founding members of the left-liberal Croatian People's Party and was party chairman from 2000 to 2008. From 2000 to 2011 she was a member of the Croatian Parliament. She ran as a candidate in the Croatian presidential election of 2009/10 and received on the first ballot 7.25% of the vote.

In the cabinet in office since December 2011 Zoran Milanovic she's Foreign Minister.

On the 11th Party Congress, she was elected vice-president of the party, in addition Ivan Vrdoljak. In March 2013, it was chosen as the successor of Radimir Čačić to the party chairman of the HNS.

Vesna Pusić is the daughter of legal scholar Eugene Pusić. She is married and has one daughter.
