Vigor Bovolenta

Vigor Bovolenta (* May 30, 1974 in Porto Viro, † 24 March, 2012 Macerata ) was an Italian volleyball player.

Career

With the Italian national Vigor Bovolenta won at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games silver medal. He won four medals at the European Championships (1995 gold, 1997 Bronze, 1999 Gold and Silver 2001 ). In 1995 he was World Cup winner in Japan. In addition, Vigor Bovolenta was four times winner of the World League (1995, 1997, 1999 and 2000). At the end of his international career, he landed at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing in fifth place.

The middle blocker Vigor Bovolenta played from 1990 to 2011 in the highest Italian league " Serie A1 " and denied here 553 games. He was in 1991 with Ravenna and 2002 with Modena Italian champion and also won the 1991 the National Cup. With Ravenna, he won three consecutive European Cup of Champions ( 1992, 1993, 1994), the CEV Cup (1997) and the Club World Cup (1991). There were also winning the Top Teams Cup 2006 Copra Piacenza and the Challenge Cup in 2010 with Perugia Volley.

Vigor Bovolenta played since 2011 in the fourth Italian league. In the encounter between his team Forlì and Lube Macerata on 24 March 2012, he suffered a heart attack on the field. In the hospital of Macerata only his death could not be determined. Bovolenta left behind his wife and four children. His fifth son, was born on 30 October 2012.
