Villy-le-Bouveret

Villy -le- Bouveret is a town in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Villy -le- Bouveret lies on 774 m above sea level. M., about 16 km north of the town of Annecy (air line). The farming village extends a scenic location on the western slope of the plateau of Bornes, above the valley of Usses, south of the Salève, in Genevois.

The area of ​​3.49 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the area of ​​the Bornes Plateau. The western boundary runs along the Usses, a left tributary of the Rhône. This water flows in a relatively wide but densely wooded valley to the south and separates the crest of the Salève from eastern Bornes plateau. From the Talniederung the communal land extends eastward to the high plateau on which 802 m above sea. M. is achieved the highest elevation of Villy -le- Bouveret. Several tributaries of the Usses drain the plateau slightly incised gullies, including the Ruisseau du Grand verray, which forms the southern boundary of the municipality.

History

Villy -le- Bouveret is first mentioned in the 15th century. The place name derives from the Latin ( fundus ) Villiacus, which means ground, due to the Villius.

Attractions

The village church of Villy -le- Bouveret was built in the 19th century in the Gothic Revival style. From the former Château du Turchet ruins remain.

Population

With 584 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Villy -le- Bouveret is one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. In the first half of the 20th century, the population decreased continuously (1901 counted Villy -le- Bouveret still 308 inhabitants). Since the mid- 1970s, however, a significant increase in population was recorded again.

Economy and infrastructure

Villy -le- Bouveret is a predominantly coined by farming village today. There are also some plants of the local small business sector. Some of the working population commuters going about their work in the larger towns in the area as well as in the Geneva - Annemasse and Annecy.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares, near a secondary road that leads from Cruseilles Bornes on the plateau to La Roche- sur -Foron. The nearest links to the A41 motorway is located at a distance of around 11 km.
