Virgilio Teixeira (actor)
Virgílio Gomes Teixeira Delgado ( born October 26, 1917 in Funchal, † December 5, 2010 ) was a Portuguese actor.
Life
Teixeira devoted himself initially some sports ( tennis, swimming and football), before he made his debut in O Costa do Castelo by Arthur Duarte as an actor in 1943. Two years later he played his first leading role and was quickly a matinee idol in Portugal, which did not remain unnoticed by Spanish and American producers. In addition to several films for the local, much wider market he succeeded for some roles the jump to Hollywood. In 1967 he finished his first film career and went to television, where he played a total of about 150 roles. He played in the Portuguese telenovela Chuva na Areia (rain on the sand ) of the RTP 1984/85 one of the main roles. His 1984 film resumed balance is handsome with a comprehensive 90 film productions list.
In contrast to most of his castmates Teixeira had no relation to theater and played only in two pieces (O Bem Amado and Mary Mary at the Teatro Avenida in Lisbon, 1964).
