Vitaliy Rahimov

Vitaly Rakhimov (born 27 August 1984) is an Azerbaijani wrestler. He won a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at featherweight at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Career

Vitaly Rakhimov began in 1994 with the rings. It focuses on the Greco-Roman style and is one of the sports club Neftchi Baku. Since the beginning of his career, he is trained by wrestler Wagib Fesulajew. At a size of 1.66 meters, he first started out in the featherweight and lightweight wrestling since 2010. He is a physical education teacher.

The international career of Vitaly Rahimow began in 2001, where he worked in Izmir European Junior Champion ( Cadet ) was in the weight class up to 54 kg body weight. In the European Junior Championships in 2002 in Subotica, he came bantamweight only on the 7th Place and in the Junior World Championship 2003 in Istanbul, he was far away with a 9th place out of the medals.

In 2004 he succeeded at his first race with the seniors, the Olympic qualifying tournament in Tashkent, to qualify with a 4th place at featherweight for the Olympics this year in Athens. At the front of these games in Haparanda taking place European Championships 2004 he lost his first fight against Lomadse Lasha from Georgia and was afterwards with a win over Thomas Kathan from Austria only reach the 11th Place. At the Olympic Games in Athens, he defeated the Olympic champion from 1996 Wlodzimierz Zawadzki from Poland, but then lost to Jung Ji -hyun of South Korea, with which he retired and finished only 14th place.

In 2005, then Vitaly Rakhimov was also possible for the seniors, the final breakthrough to the international top class. He was European champion at featherweight this year in Varna. He defeated with Mahmut Görez from Turkey, Petr Svehla from the Czech Republic, Dawid Bedinadse and Eusebiu Diaconu of Romania four world-class wrestler. He was unlucky but then at the World Championships the same year in Budapest, because he lost there against Davor Stefanek from Serbia on points (1:2 rounds, 7:12 points). Since Stefanek not reached the final difference from Vitaly Rakhimov and only came on the 22th Place.

Also at the 2006 World Championships in Guangzhou and 2007 in the domestic Baku he had no luck. In Guangzhou lost after a victory over Nikolaos Kaisidis from Greece against Alexei Wakulenko from the Ukraine and came on the 13th Place. Even worse, it caught him just in Baku, where he lost in his first fight against his nemesis Jung Ji -hyun of South Korea and landed on the 32nd.

In 2008, Vitaly Rakhimov able to fight for a place at the Olympic Games in Beijing in the qualifying tournament in Rome by a 3rd place. He triumphed over Sheng Jiang, China, Eusebiu Diaconu, the multiple world champion and Olympic champion arms Nasarjan, Bulgaria and Nurbakyt Tengisbajew from Kazakhstan and was thus in the battle for the gold medal to the Russians Islambek Albijew opposite. In 2009, he won his first medal at a World Championship at the World Championships in Herning / Denmark featherweight. In the semifinals he was defeated by Dilshod Aripow from Uzbekistan, with a victory over Söner Surcu from Turkey but he won a bronze medal. In 2011, Vitaly Rakhimov then won a bronze medal in the lightweight at the European Championships in Dortmund. He had no luck, however, at the World Championships this year in Istanbul, because he lost after two won fights against Kim Hyeon -woo of South Korea, left, and only reached the 15th place. At the European Championships 2012 in Belgrade, he lost his first fight against equal Jaroslaw Kardasch from Belarus and came only on the 20th Place. He managed not to qualify for the Olympic Games in London 2012 öauch.

In 2013, he scored good results in several international tournaments, but was employed in any international championship.
