VW Amarok

The VW Amarok is a pickup model of the Volkswagen brand. Service year, 90,000 cars (double and single cabins ) at the VW plant in Pacheco, Buenos Aires ( Argentina) to be built. The Amarok is currently (as of 2013), distributed worldwide except in the U.S. and in Canada, but VW is with dealers from the U.S. and Canada in conversation to introduce the pickup truck in North America. An annual production of 40,000 vehicles at the Hanover plant began for European markets, as well as for the Russian market at the end of June 2012.

Study Robust Pickup

The Amarok is based directly on the concept vehicle Robust pickup truck, which was first presented at the IAA for commercial vehicles in 2008.

Dimensions and features

The pickup with the VW model designation VWN817 is 5.25 meters long and has a double cabin next to a loading area of 2.52 square meters, due to its relation to the competition 10-20 cm wider body. The sheer length of the loading area is in the double cab 1.55 meters. The size of the loading area is based on the assessment of the German tax on car registration tax classification as a " truck " and allows it to tax even the Doppelkabiner by GVW. Upon request, a permanent all-wheel drive with Torsen or a manually selectable all-wheel drive with reduction and an optional differential lock rear axle is available. From model year 2012, a hardtop is offered directly by the manufacturer. Since January 2012, the Amarok is (160 hp) and rear-wheel drive offered with the 2.0-liter TSI engine with 118 kW in Australia. At the GTI - Meet at Wörthersee (2013 ) a pick -up study was presented. The Super Amarok has a strong 3.0 -liter V6 diesel engine and produces 275 hp with 600 Nm.

Naming

Amarok is the name of a wolf-like being in the mythology of the Inuit.

The VW Amarok was on public display in January 2010 as Official Support Vehicle for Dakar Rally in Chile and Argentina.

Security

In the Euro NCAP crash test in November 2010, the VW Amarok reached 31 points (86%) for occupant protection and 17 points (47%) for pedestrian protection. In the overall standings, he received four out of five stars.
