Geographical Location

Wendelstein is bordered to the south Schwarzachtal to the city of Nuremberg.

The municipal area is also a part of the industrial park Nürnberg-Feucht belongs (the other parts belong to the city of Nuremberg and the market wetlands ), and a smaller part of the motorway service station Nürnberg / Feucht ( the greater part belongs to the municipality Black Bruck ). Not for the township is part of the forest Kleinschwarzenlohe, which is unincorporated.

History

As early as the late Bronze Age around 1300 BC, the area along the Schwarzach was settled, as evidenced by grave finds. The name was first mentioned in documents in 1259. Was derived the name from the writhing around a stone river. According to legend, the name was, however, derived from the contact.

Incorporations

On 1 July 1971, until then independent municipality Raubersried was incorporated. On May 1, 1978 Röthenbach were added at Sankt Wolfgang and almost completely Großschwarzenlohe and Kleinschwarzenlohe.

Policy

The market council consists of 24 members. In the municipal election on March 2, 2008, the CSU won eleven, ten, the SPD and the FW three seats.

Traffic

  • Highway: A 73 junction Wendelstein
  • To highways 6, 9 and 3 are connection points within a few kilometers available

Passenger traffic on the former railway line wet Wendelstein was already decommissioned in 1955. With the setting of freight in 1960, the tracks were dismantled.

  • All Saints Church in Kleinschwarzenlohe with altar by Tilman Riemenschneider
  • Evangelical Church of St. George in Wendelstein. The altar of Hans Suess von Kulmbach from the year 1510 is after years of outsourcing and restoration since April 17, 2001 again in the Achahildis Chapel, a side chapel of the church.

  • Lock ball-peen hammer in Röthenbach at Sankt Wolfgang
  • The historic Ludwig-Danube- Main Canal runs through the municipal area; there are the border Wendelstein and Gauch Bach Brückkanal.

Attractions in nature

North of Wendelstein are the abandoned quarries of Wern hole.

Regular events

Since 1993, the New Orleans Music Festival takes place annually at the end of April, since 2013 under the name of blues & jazz open Wendelstein. It has a very high popularity with the fans in a wide radius. For the traditional opening event, a street parade, appear thousands of visitors.

On the last weekend of June, the Wendelsteiner fair takes place, extending through the whole Altort and part of the Röthenbacher road.
