Contact is a municipality in North Rhine -Westphalia, Germany, and belongs to the district of Olpe in the Sauerland. It is the southernmost municipality of the Sauerland.

Geographical Location

Apply lies in the southern part of the district of Olpe within the Natural Park Ebbegebirge. It is drained by the Bigge inflow turn, opens into the inside of the village of Bach Albe ( from the north ). History

Middle Ages

The parish church of Wenden was originally a branch church of Olpe. The age of the steeple points out that the original church building was erected in the 12th century. Even in 1313 it is referred to as a chapel. The patronage changed over time from St. John the Baptist, to the Holy Severin, because the cast was right at the pin Severin in Cologne. Contact belonged to the Official Waldenburg, which was subjected to the rule of the archbishops of Cologne. These were made a judge in a turn. Religions

The inhabitants of the municipality Wenden belong to a large majority of the Catholic denomination. With the exception of Möllmicke and Rothemühle every major town has a Catholic church or chapel. In Hünsborn it is the parish church of St. Cunibert. In turning and Rothemühle exist Protestant churches in Gerlingen except the Catholic Church is also a neuapostolisches church. A regionally important place of pilgrimage for Catholics is situated in the forest the Dörnschlade, between the hamlets of Wenden, turning and Altenhof. According to legend, there a Stolen from Wenden church statue was found. The chapel is used by many of the faithful to prayer. After the Second World War attracted many refugees from the former eastern territories of the German Reich in the former Office Contact and settled mainly in the districts of Vahlberg and Rothemühle. Peter Brüser, CDU member and formerly erected by the CDU, sat down at the municipal election in 2004 as an independent candidate by a large margin against the nominees of the CDU Anthony Half by. Theater

The community contact is known for the large number of music clubs ( Altenhof, Gerlingen, Heid, Hill Micke, Wenden, Ottfingen ), marching bands ( Ottfingen, turning ) and almost 40 choirs. Almost every major district has a band and several choirs.

Around 30 music and choral societies, including many champion choirs, still affect through concerts and other performances, the cultural and social life of the community.

The pilgrimage chapel Dörnschlade has been built in the middle of the 19th century. The chapel is located near the town Altenhof and is easily accessible via the connecting road between Wenden and turning. On Sundays after the feast of the Visitation (July 2 ) and the Nativity of Mary (8 September ) are held processions of Altenhof and turning to Dörnschlade, which are then finished with church services at the Dörnschlade.

The parish church of St. Severinus was built around 1750-1752 by Franz Beyer. The altars and the most holy figures adorning its predecessors, church, of which even the massive tower dates. Natural Monuments

The Bigge source is near the village of Romans Hagen. A stream refers to the coming of the spring, still quite low water and fills after 16 km of one of the largest lakes in Germany, the Bigge.

• Wendsche Kärmetze ( fair ) on the third Tuesday in August and on Saturday and Sunday before. On Tuesday finds an animal show with awards for the animals held in different classes. The municipality Wenden is opened up by two motorways:

• A 4 (E 40) Aachen- Görlitz junction: Contact ( at the motorway junction Olpe- Süd) and
• The A45 (Sauerland line) ( E 41 ) Dortmund -Aschaffenburg. Junction: Contact ( at the motorway junction Olpe- Süd).

However, no highway passes through the community. Main roads are the highways L342, L512, L564, L714 and L905.

Bus and rail transport

In the road passenger transport operate numerous bus lines that connect the contact with its neighboring towns and cities. Operators are transport companies Westfalen- Süd ( VWS ), based in Siegen, a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Bonn, and the Deutsche Bahn subsidiary bus Ruhr -Sieg ( BRS). The lines R50 and R51 are the main bus routes that lead from Siegen and Olpe, Wenden.

Today there are in the municipality not have its own rail transport more. Previously there was a rail connection to today's Bigge Valley Railway. The section Freudenberg Rothemühle in 1987, the track part Rothemühle Olpe decommissioned in 2000 and dismantled in 2005.

Education

Contact has several primary schools and two secondary schools, but not private school. End of 2011, a significant break in secondary education is already foreseeable.
