Ifs is a municipality in the district of Imst ( Imst district court ) in the Tyrol in Austria with 1956 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

Ifs is located in the Pitztal in a valley, at the turnoff to Pillerhöhe (municipality flow ), which represents a connection to the High Court. In addition to the main town on the road to the municipality are still numerous hamlets and farms:

History

Were the Hirschberg Castle near Ifs, 1921 collapsed for the most part and since then ruin, belonged to the mid-13th century the Upper Palatinate of the Counts of Hirschberg, Grögling and Doll stone, which for a few decades, the masters of the Upper Inn Valley and the Wipptal ( burner area ). Count Gebhard II of Hirschberg in 1284 sold his Tyrolean estate to Count Meinhard II of Gorizia and moved back to Castle Hirschberg at Beilngries.

Economy

The economy is determined by two seasonal tourism, with ifs share of the winter tourism ( ski ) of the Pitztal has, however, without being able to have a ski area within the municipal area itself.

Regular events

  • Wenner Fasnacht: The tradition is maintained in the ' Wenner Carnival ', which is similar to the Imst Schemenlaufen, since 1993.

Culture and sights

  • Place House: Worth seeing is the ' space house ' at the small village square near the main road. The old house of the village reeve and Pitztal judge received a complete painting 1576-1608.
  • Oldest farmhouse in Tirol: According to the latest findings of the University of Innsbruck is in Ifs the oldest farmhouse in Tyrol. Based on the research of lumber used recently, the age was calculated to be almost exactly 700 years.
  • MPreis branch MPreis - Branch: The local branch of the supermarket chain MPreis the architect Rainer Köberl and Astrid Tschapeller has received several architectural awards and nominations received ( New Building in the Alps, competition for the Mies van der Rohe Award among others).
