The station Wiesbaden- Biebrich is now only a breakpoint on the right Rhine route to the district of Wiesbaden.

History

The station was established in the course of construction of the Nassau Rhine Valley Railway Wiesbaden - Rüdesheim - Oberlahnstein as Biebrich Bahnhof Mosbach. The track and the train station were taken on August 11, 1856 for public transport in operation. The station was renamed several times and carried the names Biebrich Central Station and since the incorporation Biebrichs to Wiesbaden in 1926, the designations Wiesbaden South and Wiesbaden-Biebrich.

Operation

Operationally, the station was initially quite significant. Here met the Nassau Rhine Valley line by then- Taunus station, and later the Wiesbaden Central Station, from Wiesbaden coming to the connecting curve between the Rhine Valley Railway and the Taunus Railway to Frankfurt am Main. So there was a time even through car runs between Wiesbaden and Biebrich for trains between the Rhine Valley and Frankfurt, whose term avoided Wiesbaden and its terminal stations.

Current situation

On Biebrich Bahnhof today holds only the City Express Line SE 10 (Rheingau line) of the Rhine -Main Transport Association ( RMV) served hourly. In rush hour, there are half hourly connections to Koblenz Hauptbahnhof, Kaub above Rüdesheim.

Reception building

The station building is architecturally designed particularly representative because it station for the Biebrich Palace, residence of the Dukes of Nassau was at the same time, the park unfolds directly across the street from the train station building. The architect was Henry Velde, who created the buildings in the classical style on an H - shaped plan. The design elements of the building have been simplified at a later renovation. The station building is now a cultural monument historical monument.
