Wiler bei Utzenstorf is a municipality in the administrative district of Emmental in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
Geography
Wiler bei Utzenstorf is located on 462 m above sea level. Level, 6 km south of the town of Solothurn (air line). The village extends into the flat alluvial plain of the river Emme, east of the channelized river course, the Swiss Plateau.
The area of 3.8 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the central Bernese Mittelland. The area is almost completely flat; the fertile and intensively farmed flood plain of the river Emme rises slightly towards the south. The channelized and straightened Emme forms in the west and northwest, the boundary of the municipality and is accompanied by a narrow belt of forest and a side channel. From the Emme extends the municipality of soil over an agricultural zone to the east in the vast Wilerwald and southeast on the Wilerfeld, on the 471 m above sea level. M. the highest point of Wiler bei Utzenstorf is achieved. The plain is drained by the Strack creek north to Emme. From the municipality surface 1997 13 % came from settlements, 31 % of forest and shrubs, 55 % to agriculture and slightly less than 1% was unproductive land.
To Wiler bei Utzenstorf the hamlet Wilerfeld part ( 469 m above sea level. M. ) on the southern edge of the municipality. Neighboring communities of Wiler bei Utzenstorf are Zielebach, Utzenstorf and Bätterkinden.
Population
With 828 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Wiler bei Utzenstorf belongs to the smaller municipalities in the canton of Bern. Of the residents 96.4 % are German, 1.3 % Italian-speaking and 1.0 % speak French (as of 2000). The population of Wiler bei Utzenstorf amounted in 1850 to 337 residents in 1900 to 402 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population increased steadily until 1970 to 845 persons. Since then, a slightly decreasing tendency was observed in total again.
Economy
Wiler bei Utzenstorf was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, agriculture, animal husbandry and forestry have a certain role in the occupational structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available. In Wiler bei Utzenstorf today among builders, the machinery and metal engineering, horticulture and wood processing are represented. In the international rail freight operates is the Crossrail AG. Further, the nationally known Carbagas AG produces non-toxic industrial and medical gases. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the larger towns in the area as well as in the Solothurn area.
Traffic
The community is conveniently comparatively quite well developed. It is located on a link road from Utzenstorf after Gerlafingen. The nearest links to the A1 ( Bern- Zurich ) is located about 5 km from the center. On May 26, 1875, the railway line from Burgdorf was taken to Solothurn in operation. The station Wiler bei Utzenstorf but was only opened in 1908.
History
The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1261 under the name Wilere; of 1387 the spelling Wiler is handed down. The place name is derived from the Old High German word wilari (small village, hamlet ).
Since the Middle Ages was under Wiler bei Utzenstorf the supremacy of the Counts of Kyburg and belonged to the rule Landshut. With this rule, the village came in 1413 in the sphere of influence of the Bernese bailiwick cheeks, which exercised high justice. With the sale of the reign of Landshut in 1514 Wiler bei Utzenstorf came under the direct rule of the Bernese and the bailiwick of Landshut has been assigned.
After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ) was one of Wiler bei Utzenstorf during the Helvetic Republic to the district of Burgdorf and from 1803 to Oberamt Mrs. Fountain, received the status of an office district with the new cantonal constitution of 1831. Wiler bei Utzenstorf does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Utzenstorf.
