William Henry Bullock

William Henry Bullock ( born April 13, 1927 in Maple Lake, Wright County, Minnesota, † April 3, 2011 in Madison, Wisconsin) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop.

Life

Bullock served from 1944 to 1946 in the United States Navy. From 1946 to 1948 he studied philosophy at the University of Notre Dame and 1948-1952 Catholic theology at St. Paul Seminary. He received on 7 June 1952, the priesthood at St. Paul's Cathedral in Saint Paul. He was from 1952 to 1957 in parishes in Minneapolis and Edina operates. From 1957, Bullock worked at the St. Thomas Academy in St. Paul, ibid 1967-1971 as rector. In 1962, he earned a master's degree in liturgy and religious education at the University of Notre Dame. In 1969 he received his doctorate at the University of St. Thomas in Public Administration. 1971 to 1980 he was pastor at Excelsior and 1980 in Minneapolis.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 3 June 1980 Titular Bishop of Natchesium and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul. He received his episcopal consecration Archbishop John Robert Roach on August 12, 1980 in St. Paul's Cathedral in Saint Paul; Co-consecrators were Paul Vincent Dudley, Bishop of Sioux Falls and Raymond Alphonse Lucker, Bishop of New Ulm.

1987 Bullock was appointed bishop of Des Moines, in 1993 Bishop of Madison. In 2003, Pope John Paul II held its age-related resignation.

In the U.S. Bishops' Conference Bullock belonged to the commissions for communication and evangelism and the Agenda Committee for the preparation of the general meetings of the Conference. He was a board member of the St. Francis Seminary, Milwaukee.

Bullock was a member of the Knights of Columbus ( Fourth Degree ) and prior of the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem. In 1989 he was honored with an honorary Doctor of Humanities at Saint Ambrose University in 2005 with an honorary doctorate Doctor of Humane Letters from the University of St. Thomas.
