Wollin, Brandenburg

Wolin is a municipality in the district of Potsdam- agent Mark Brandenburg. It belongs to the Office Ziesar with headquarters in the city Ziesar.

Geography

Wolin is between Ziesar and Brandenburg an der Havel, near the A2.

History

The first evidence for the mention in historical sources a certificate of Margrave Otto of Brandenburg from January 5, 1372 is to be considered, in which the village Wollin is transferred to the cathedral chapter and the bishop of Brandenburg. Another mention is Wollin in the certificate of the bishop Dietrich von Brandenburg on May 3, 1374th

Wollin belonged until 1773 to the Electorate of Brandenburg, from 1773 to the circle Ziesar under the government of Magdeburg. 1826 was the dissolution of the circle Ziesar and Wollin now belonged to the circle Jerichow I with castle as the county seat. In July 1950, renamed the circle castle was. Through administrative reform Wollin was on 23 July 1952, a municipality in the district of Brandenburg. After the fall of the most Wolin citizens decided in a citizen survey for a membership in the State of Brandenburg and not to Saxony-Anhalt. The last change was in 1993 - Wolin has since been in Potsdam- agent Mark circle.

People

Karl Gropler (* 1923), former member of the Waffen- SS and sentenced under Italian military court judgment on 22 June 2005 to life imprisonment for his involvement in the massacre of Sant'Anna di Camaiore, lives in Wollin.
