The woman of whom we speak is a screwball comedy from 1942, began with the long-standing cooperation between the main actors Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn.
Action
Tess Harding Craig and Sam both work for the same newspaper. As they get to know each, the urbane and hectic political journalist and grassroots sports reporter feel immediately attracted to each other, although they appreciate the particular profession of the other low. Nevertheless, they decide hastily into marriage. Even then, however, it is obvious that their characterological differences complicate their life together. In particular, the political commitment of Tess, the ever shortdecided brings a Greek boy with home because they took over the patronage for the Greek orphanage, turns out to be increasing burden. Finally, she is elected "Woman of the Year", just as Sam finished the relationship. It needs further lessons for both of them until they get back together.

The film was ( in English ) original version studded with spikes on the political situation. When the film was released in Germany in 1948, these were replaced by non-mandatory texts.
The film was the first of nine films that turned the pair Tracy / Hepburn together.
