Wu (state)

The so-called Wu (Chinese吴/吴, Pinyin Wú ) was a powerful, semi- barbarous state in the Western Zhou Dynasty, the time of the Spring and Autumn Annals and the time of the Warring States at the sea coast in the area of the lower Yangtze River, north of the so- Yue said State.

He was conquered by Yue 473 BC.

The sinologist Victor H. Mair calls these two states in its Zhuangzi translation " Ngwa " and " Viet " to draw attention to the fact that the populations of these areas - the time in South China were - at the time of Zhuang Zhou not yet fully were sinicized.
