Active reactors ( gross ):

The Wylfa nuclear power station is located west of Cemaes Bay on the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales in the UK.

The nuclear power plant has two Magnox reactors, each with 490 MW of installed capacity ( " Wylfa -1" and " Wylfa -2") whose construction in 1963 and commissioning in 1971 was.

The nuclear power plant is operated by the company Magnox Electric Limited and is owned by the UK Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA, German authority for the decommissioning of nuclear facilities ). It was originally to be shut down in 2010 for economic reasons, meanwhile, is planned to terminate the operation of the reactor Wylfa -1 in 2014.

On April 25, 2012 went Wylfa -2 due to a unplanned outage five days earlier than planned by the network and has not been approached. After the power plant operator received the approval to use the partially spent nuclear fuel rods from the reactor Wylfa 2 in the reactor Wylfa 1 and the production of Magnox fuel is now expired, Wylfa 1 is expected to run until 2014.
