Yevgeny Kulikov

Yevgeny Nikolayevich Kulikov (Russian: Евгений Николаевич Куликов; born May 25, 1950 in Bogdanovich ) is a former Soviet speed skater.

He was the first runner who ran 500 meters in under 38 seconds. His best time in his career were exactly 37 seconds. This world record held 8 years.

At the Olympic Games 1976 in Innsbruck, he won the gold medal in the 500 meters. Four years later, at the Games in Lake Placid, he won a silver medal behind Eric Heiden.

In 1975 he was awarded the Oscar Mathisen Award.
