Yuji Kunimoto

Yuji Kunimoto (Japanese国 本 雄 资, Yuji Kunimoto; born September 12, 1990 in Yokohama ) is a Japanese ( zainichi in 3rd generation) racer. In 2010 he won the Japanese Formula 3 Championship. In 2011 he raced in the Formula Nippon.

He is the younger brother of Keisuke Kunimoto racer.

Career

Kunimoto began his motorsport career in karting in 2000, where he was active until 2006. In 2007 he moved Challenge in the Japanese formula with three wins and was fourth in the overall standings. A year later he won the championship title of the Japanese Formula Challenge and chose half of the race itself. He also took part in a race in the Formula BMW Pacific.

2009 saw Kunimoto in the Japanese Formula 3 Championship and went to the Petronas Team TOM's. With four victories, he was third in the drivers' championship behind his teammate Marcus Ericsson and Takuto Iguchi. He also took part in the Super GT and was with Iguchi tenth in the overall standings. 2010 was the Japanese at TOM 's and won the first ten races in a row. Two race weekends from time to Kunimoto secured the title early Japanese Formula 3 He also took part in two races of the Super GT.

2011 moved Kunimoto in the Formula Nippon. With a fourth place as best result he ended his first season in tenth place in the driver standings. In addition, he participated in the GT300 class of the Super GT and finished seventh.
