Žabljak

Zabljak (Cyrillic Жабљак ) is a small town in the center of the Durmitor National Park in Montenegro. The city has about 2,000 inhabitants and is the starting point for numerous excursions and trips into the mountains. The city is the highest in the whole country and the seat of the homonymous municipality with about 3600 inhabitants.

History

During World War II Zabljak was completely destroyed and then completely rebuilt.

Population

At the 2011 census, the municipality of Zabljak had 3,569 inhabitants, of whom described themselves 1,800 ( 50.43 %) and Montenegrins and 1,474 ( 41.3 %) than Serbs. 215 inhabitants ( 6.02% ) no group wanted to assign.

Tourism

Especially in high summer, the landscape around the place many Montenegrins and Serbs from the lowlands to cool off. In winter, the ski area around Savin Kuk demanding slopes.
