Žabovřesky (České Budějovice District)

Žabovřesky ( German Schabowres, formerly Žabowřesk ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eleven kilometers west of Ceske Budejovice in South Bohemia České Budějovice and belongs to the.

Geography

Žabovřesky is located on the right side of the creek Dehtářský creek in Budweiser pool. To the west lies the pond Dehtář. In the south, the Na Buchtách rises (423 m ) west of the Vosí vrch (441 m).

Neighboring towns are Zabovresky Mlýn, Na Drahách, Břehov, Picina and Češnovice in the north, Čejkovice in the northeast, Jaronice in the east, Křenovice and Dubné the southeast, Kvítkovice, Podvrážský Mlýn and Čakovec in the south, Čakov, Kalouch, Tesař and Špicuk the southwest, Holubovská Basta and Dehtáře in the west and Tupesy in the northwest.

History

Ceramic finds at Vosí vrch, ranging from the Late Bronze Age of the Hallstatt and La Tène period to the Early Middle Ages, occupy a prehistoric settlement in the municipal area.

The first written mention of the village belonging to the Fixed Poděhusy Zabobrziek was on 26 May 1334 when King John of Luxembourg, the village eintauschte together with Dehtáře and Radošovice for 720 groschen to Peter I. von Rosenberg against the border castle Janovice. Below the village belonged to the possessions of the lords of Rosenberg. Peter Wok von Rosenberg eventually bequeathed to Peter Žabovřesky Kořenský of Terešov from which it fell to the monastery in Český Krumlov and later the reign Krumlov. In 1840 Zawobřesk consisted of 50 houses with 333 inhabitants. Vicarage was Duben. Until the mid- 19th century, the village always the rule Krumlov remained submissive.

After the abolition of patrimonial Žabovřesky / Zawobřesk formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Budějovice / Budweis. 1914 lived in the town of 389 Czech -speaking inhabitants. In 1960, the incorporation of Dehtáře, Břehov, Jaronice, Radošovice, Strýčice and Tupesy was. This solved in 1990 with the exception of Dehtáře release.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Žabovřesky Dehtáře ( Dechtern ) and Žabovřesky ( Schabowres ) and the monolayer Zabovresky Mlýn.

Place name

The name can be translated as Žabovřesky frog cries, and derives from living here in numerous ponds, pools and marshes frogs.

In September 2006 Žabovřesky host of the fourth international meeting of Zab communities to which delegations from Žabokliky, Žabovřesky nad Ohri, Žabokreky and Žabokreky nad Nitrou had arrived.
