Zacatepec

The Club Deportivo Zacatepec is a Mexican football club from Zacatepec, which was registered in 1948 on the initiative of Rodrigo Ampudia del Valle under the name " Club Social y Deportivo Zacatepec " in the Register.

Zacatepec was one of eight founding members of the División 1950/51 Segunda newly introduced, the national second division. They finished the season as champions and thus introduced the first team in the Primera División the leap reached on sporting merit. In the first division the team showed very changeable services. The ninth place in the promotion season (1951 /52) followed the runner (1952 /53) and a tenth place (1953 /54), before 1955, the first championship was won. Three years later, the second and final championship. However, between were seventh and twelfth. At the end of the season 1961/62 the first of five descents followed. To date the last time Zacatepec was represented in the 1984/85 season in the top division.

Up to the first round (Apertura) 2003/ 04 Zacatepec was still playing in the second division, La Liga 'A', where you pushed forward to the subsequent play-off semi-finals. The local losses ( twice 0:1) against the Cobras Ciudad Juárez however led to a confrontation with his own fans. In protest, the team moved to the federal capital of Cuernavaca, where they played the second half ( Clausura 2004) under the name " Morelos " Estadio Centenario in.

The next two seasons spent Zacatepec - initially under the name cañeros de Zacatepec, from the second half of 2005/ 06 as cañeros de Zacatepetl - in the third division ( Segunda división ) until the summer of 2006 to the fourth division ( Tercera División ) descent. There, the club strives with young talent from the region to the resurgence in the third league. To survive financially, Zacatepec acts recently as a branch and talent scout for Club América.
