Zambian presidential election, 2008

The presidential elections in Zambia were held in 2008 in the southern African country of Zambia on 30 October 2008. In the elections, it was an early direct election of the Zambian President, held within a constitutionally prescribed period of 90 days after the death of the late Levy Mwanawasa on 19 August.

According to the election observers of the Southern African Development Community ( SADC), the Zambian Presidential elections were free and fair.

As the winner of the 71 -year-old Rupiah Banda emerged in front of his peers competitors Michael Sata slim margin.
