Žan Kranjec

Žan Kranjec (born 15 November 1992), is a Slovenian alpine skier. He specializes in the disciplines of giant slalom and slalom.

Biography

As of December 2007, at the age of 15 years, Kranjec participated in FIS races and national junior race. In February 2009, he participated in the European Youth Olympic Festival in Szczyrk, where a 11th place his best result was. Two months later he was able to win for the first time a FIS race. In March 2010, the first use followed in the European Cup. In February 2011, he was Slovenian Giant Slalom Junior Champion. A week later Kranjec made ​​its debut on March 5, 2011 at the World Cup; while he finished the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora on the 42nd place. In the course of the 2011/12 season, he established himself gradually in the European Cup. Shortly after he became a Slovenian slalom junior champion, he won at the Junior World Championship 2012 per a bronze medal in the giant slalom and in the combination.

Although he had still boast no countable result in the World Cup, Kranjec took part in the World Cup 2013 in Schladming and drove in the giant slalom on the 22th Place. At the Junior World Championships in 2013, he won two more medals, gold in the team competition and bronze in the giant slalom. The first World Cup points he won on December 23, 2013, number 23 in the giant slalom on the Gran Risa in Alta Badia. In the European Cup on December 3, he managed the first podium, on 26 and January 27, 2014 he won two giant slaloms in a row for themselves. So he decided the giant slalom discipline rating for themselves.
