Bob Latta

Robert Edward "Bob" Latta ( born April 18, 1956 in Bluffton, Ohio ) is an American politician of the Republican Party. Since 2007 he is a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 5th Congressional District of the State of Ohio.

Biography

Bob Latta is the son of former Congressman Del Latta. His father took from 1959 to 1989 the same district as his son today. Bob Latta was born in Bluffton. In 1978 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowling Green State University. The Juris Doctor he got in 1981 after studying at the University of Toledo. Before Latta went into politics he worked as a lawyer. From 1991 to 1997 he was a representative in the Council of Wood County. He was then elected for 4 years, in the Senate of Ohio. In the House of Representatives from Ohio, he represented subsequently until the election into the U.S. House of Representatives 6th District.

Latta was elected in a Special Election to succeed the deceased Paul Gillmor House of Representatives. Since then, he is representing the 5th District of Ohio. In the following elections he could keep his seat. He is a member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce.

Practicing Catholic, who lives with his wife Marcia and their two children in Bowling Green.
