Henry Swearingen

Henry Swearingen (* circa 1795 in West Virginia; † 1849 on the high seas ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party. December 3, 1838 to March 3, 1841, he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 19th Congressional District of the State of Ohio.

Biography

Swearingen was born circa 1795 in West Virginia. He moved to Ohio, where he settled in Steubenville. As sheriff he served the Jefferson County 1824-1828 and 1830-1832.

From 1838 to 1841 he was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He was elected in a Special Election to succeed Daniel Kilgore. The re-election once succeeded. In 1841 he retired again.
