Dennis E. Eckart

Dennis Edward Eckart ( born April 6, 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. From 1981 to 1993 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 11th and 22nd Congressional District of the State of Ohio.

Biography

Dennis Eckart was born in Cleveland. He attended St. Joseph High School in Euclid. In 1971 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Xavier University of Cincinnati. His Bachelor of Laws he made at the Cleveland State University in 1974. Immediately after that, he was admitted to the bar. He practiced from now on in Cleveland. From 1975 to 1980 he sat in the House of Representatives from Ohio.

In the congressional elections in 1980, Eckart was chosen as representative of the 22nd Congress District of Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives. From 1983 until his retirement in 1993, he represented then the 11th Congressional District in Washington, DC. Subsequently, he worked for the American Bar Association. On the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, he sat also. In addition, Eckart was the leader of the U.S. delegation to the OSCE in Vienna. In the free economy Eckart was also active as a lawyer in a large law firm in Cleveland.

Eckart is married to Sandy and has one son, Eddy. They live in Euclid.
