Henry I. Emerson

Henry Ivory Emerson ( born March 15, 1871 in Litchfield, Kennebec County, Maine; † 28 October in East Cleveland, Ohio, 1953 ) was an American politician of the Republican Party. From 1915 to 1921 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 22th Congressional District of the State of Ohio.

Biography

Born Henry I. Emerson in the small town of Litchfield in Maine. He later moved with his parents to Lewistown where he attended school and studied law. In 1892 he moved to Cleveland where he completed his studies in 1893. In the same year Emerson received his license to practice law and was working as a lawyer in Cleveland. 1902 and 1903 he sat on the city council of Cleveland.

In 1914 he was elected to represent the 22nd District of Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives. The 22 district he represented for 3 legislative sessions. In 1921 he resigned from the Congress and was re- worked as a lawyer. Emerson died in 1953 in East Cleveland and was buried at Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland.
