History

The oldest historical memories of Cappelle are linked to the nearby town of Monte Silvano, with which it often fought out very intense rivalries and disputes in the past. In earlier times, this area was part of the old Angulum (now Citta Sant'Angelo ), one of the four cities, which allocated the Emperor Augustus to the people from Vestini. Controversial is the origin of the name Cappelle. Probably the name comes from the old bands from throughout the territory (Villa Carmine, Cappelle Villa, Villa S. Maria, Bivio casone - Moscufo ).

The currently most important event is the traditional Palio delle Cappelle sul Tavo Pupe in, which takes place every year during the festival of the summer. All counties and districts of the country are preparing their doll, which is nothing more than a paper mache doll that represents a beautiful woman and is adorned with games and fireworks.
