Cugnoli

Cugnoli is a 1564 inhabitants and 15 km ² comprehensive community near Civitaquana and Alanno and is located in the province of Pescara.

Borders the following municipalities: Alanno, Catignano, Civitaquana, Nocciano and Pietranico.

History

The first documented beginnings of Cugnoli date from the year 1173, when the resident families were taxed. The old castle dates from the early Middle Ages, but only the front side of the building has survived the centuries. Of great artistic value, the Church of Santo Stefano is from the thirteenth century. The pulpit is of excellent workmanship.

In the surroundings of the village vines of Montepulciano for the DOC - cultivated wine Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.

Economy

The location of the village in the hilly area promotes the production of olives, wine and grain.
