Cheri Bustos

Cheryl L. " Cheri " Callahan Bustos ( born October 17, 1961 in Springfield, Illinois) is an American politician. Since 2013, it represents the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Cheryl Callahan, so her maiden name, attended the public schools of their home. In 1979 she graduated from Springfield High School; In 1981 she studied at the Illinois College before enrolling in 1983 at the University of Maryland. She finished her studies in 1985 at the University of Illinois at Springfield, where she studied journalism. For 17 years she worked as a reporter or publisher of the Quad -City Times. In this newspaper she reported on local events, among other things, corruption in local administrations. Later, she worked for six years for Trinity Regional Health System. Since 2008, she was Vice President of Public Relations at Iowa Health System. At the same time they hit as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. From 2007 to 2011, she sat in the council of East Moline.

In the congressional elections of 2012 Cheri Bustos in the 17th Election District of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where they on 3 January 2013, the successor of the Republican Bobby Schilling took, she had beaten in the election.

Cheri Bustos is married to a police officer and has three grown sons.
