Geography

The County lies to the west of the geographic center of Texas and is about 30 km from the southeast corner of New Mexico removed. History

Ector County was formed in 1887 from parts of Tom Green County. It was named after Mathew Duncan Ector, a Brigadier General of the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War.
