Geography

The County is located in East Texas, is about 50 km from Louisiana, 40 km from the Gulf of Mexico and is part of the Houston - Sugar Land - Baytown Metropolitan Area. History

Liberty County was formed in 1836 as an original county. It was named after the city and later the seat of the County Administration Liberty.
