John Yarmuth

John Yarmuth (* November 4, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky) is an American politician. Since January 2007, he represents the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Yarmuth attended until 1965 the Atherton High School. Then he studied until 1969 at Yale University. This was followed up in 1972 to study law at Georgetown University in Washington DC of. In the years 1971-1975 Yarmuth was on the staff of U.S. Senator Marlow Cook. As a result, he was working as a journalist. He was both a newspaper publisher and television journalist. He also worked in the field of public relations for the University of Louisville.

Politically, Yarmuth joined the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 2006, he was elected in the third electoral district of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where he succeeded the Republican Anne Northup took on 3 January 2007, he had beaten in the election. After the previous two elections, he can exercise his mandate in Congress today. His current term of office runs until January 3, 2013. In previous legislative sessions, he was a member of the Committee on Ways and Means, and in two of its subcommittees. He currently sits in the Budget Committee, the Ethics Committee and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and in two sub-committees. With his wife, John Yarmuth has a grown son. Privately, he lives in Louisville.
