William P. Curlin, Jr.

William Prather Curlin ( born November 30, 1933, Paducah, Kentucky ) is a retired American politician. Between 1971 and 1973 he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Curlin attended Frankfort High School in Kentucky. Then he studied until 1958 at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. After studying law at the same university and his 1962 was admitted as a lawyer, he began to practice in this profession. In the meantime, he was from 1955 to 1957 Soldier in the United States Army. Between 1962 and 1964 he worked as a lawyer for the tax authorities of Kentucky.

Politically, Curlin was a member of the Democratic Party. From 1968 to 1971 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Kentucky. There he chaired the Budget Committee. After the death of Mr John C. Watts, he was at the election due in the sixth constituency of Kentucky as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on December 4, 1971. Since he resigned at the regular congressional elections of 1972 on a bid again, he could only finish the opened term of his predecessor in Congress until January 3, 1973.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives to Curlin retired from politics. In the following years he worked again as a lawyer. Today he lives in Versailles.
