Marcus C. Lisle

Marcus Claiborne Lisle (* September 23 1862 in Winchester, Kentucky; † July 7, 1894 ) was an American politician. Between 1893 and 1894 he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Marcus Lisle attended the common schools and then studied at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. After a subsequent law degree at Columbia University in New York City and qualifying as a lawyer, he began in 1887 to work in Winchester in this profession. In 1890 he became district judge in Clark County.

Politically, Lisle member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1892 he was in the tenth electoral district of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Joseph M. Kendall on March 4, 1893. But he could exercise only until July 7, 1894 from his position. On this day he passed away in his home town Winchester. His mandate was made after a special election to William M. Beckner.
