The list of cities in the United Kingdom provides an overview of the development of the population of the larger urban settlements in the United Kingdom and an alphabetical list of all cities with city status.

Metropolitan areas by population

The largest metropolitan area in the United Kingdom is London with 12.6 million inhabitants. To live alone in the capital region around a fifth of the country's people. The table shows the largest metropolitan areas in the United Kingdom (as of 1 January 2007).

Urban settlements by population
