Mandy Wötzel

Mandy Woetzel ( born July 21, 1973 in Karl- Marx-Stadt ) is a former German figure skater, which was launched in pair skating for the GDR and Germany.

Biography

Mandy Woetzel began as a child with figure skating. She started first for the SC Karl- Marx-Stadt, which was after the reunification for SC Chemnitz. Your pair skating coach was Monika Scheibe.

First Wötzel ran with Axel Rauschenbach. They were in 1989 and 1990, the last pair of running champion of the GDR. They approached in two World Cups and three European Championships. Your only medal there, they won in 1989 in Birmingham, as it behind Larissa Selezneva and Oleg Makarov were Vice-European Champion from the Soviet Union. Their best finish at the World Championships was the seventh place 1990. 1991 they were German champions. The 1992 Olympic Games in Albertville ended Wötzel and Rauschenbach in eighth place.

At the European Championships in Helsinki, they won silver with their first major international medal.
