Mastershausen

Masters Hausen is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kastellaun.

Geography

The village Masterhausen is near the airport Frankfurt -Hahn, about 5 km west of Kastellaun. Through the village the road from book (Hunsrück ) leads past the ruins Balduinseck after Blankenrath.

History

Coin and vascular findings prove a Celtic settlement of the castle head, which also has traces of Roman settlement, the remains of a Roman temple and two grave sites have been excavated. Masterhausen was first mentioned in 1056 as Malestreshusen, the church in the year 1220. Since 1316 Masterhausen belonged along with 15 neighboring villages to the Official Balduinseck of the Electorate of Trier. In 1325 the castle was built as a home Balduinseck. The castle ruin is still one of the attractions today. Also, some half-timbered buildings have been preserved. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops, the place was French and was from 1798 to 1814 in the canton of cell in the Rhine -Moselle department. 1815, the region and thus Masterhausen was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate. By 1970, the town belonged to the Official Blankenrath but was allocated under the 8th Administrative Simplification Act of July 18, 1970 with effect from November 7, 1970 the Rhein- Hunsrück-Kreis and since then belongs to the municipality Kastellaun. In Kastellaun is also the local government.

The local council in Masterhausen consists of 16 council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The tripartite heraldic coat of arms shows on the right the red cross of Trier, heraldic left the black cross of the Cologne cathedral chapter and above a golden crown in a black box, reminiscent of Queen Richeza that appears in the first mention of the place.
